This workshop is designed to demystify the school system and give parents a clear, year-by-year blueprint for their child's success. Instead of reacting to school challenges as they arise, this session empowers you to stay two steps ahead, ensuring your child "cruises" through their foundational years with confidence and joy.
Workshop Highlights
We will break down the elementary journey into three distinct phases, focusing on the academic, social, and testing milestones that define each stage.
The Foundation (Pre-K – Kindergarten): Transitioning from play-based learning to "student mode." We’ll discuss social-emotional readiness and the building blocks of literacy.
The Great Shift (Grades 1 – 3): Navigating the critical transition from learning to read to reading to learn. This is where we tackle the introduction of standardized testing and state assessments.
The Bridge to Middle School (Grades 4 – 5): Developing executive functioning skills, managing increased homework loads, and preparing for the high-stakes environment of middle school admissions.
Testing & Advocacy: How to interpret test scores (MAP, State Exams, etc.) and how to effectively communicate with teachers to get your child the support they need.
